Beverage cartons are in use since 1963. They offer numerous advantages, including their lightweight portability, strong protection for contents, and sustainable design using renewable materials like paperboard that has a lower carbon footprint compared to many plastics.
They also provide excellent product protection, extending shelf life, and offer a flexible, large-surface area for impactful branding and custom designs, making them a cost-effective and versatilechoice for the food and beverage industry.
Despite being used for so long, their recycling on an industrial scale has not yet been solved.
FETI’s approach: instead of separation, combination of materials, and use cellulose fibers of paper phase as reinforcement in composites. The process is simple and easily scalable.
The resulting materials show
better mechanical performance than the composing polymer, and the properties
can be engineered according to the desired application.
