Radar Sensors: Advanced Perimeter Monitoring

Modern vehicles rely heavily on sensors to monitor their surroundings, playing a critical role in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Our 24GHz multi-mode radar, developed by Furukawa Electric, is designed to operate reliably even in harsh environmental conditions like heavy rain or snow. The Automotive Research Group supports most of the development and validation phases, providing expertise in algorithm development, simulation, and real-world measurements.

Radar Measurements: Comprehensive support for radar measurement evaluation and automated radar evaluation.

FMCW Radar Signal Processing Simulation: Expertise in simulating and processing Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave (FMCW) radar signals.

Environment Simulations with Unreal Engine: Utilizing advanced simulation tools like Unreal Engine for realistic and immersive radar specific traffic scenario modelling.

ML-Based Pedestrian Detection Algorithm: Research and development of Machine Learning (ML)-based algorithms to enhance radar detection capabilities.

Our automatic evaluation platform enables efficient analysis of data from European public road tests and challenging proving ground measurements, ensuring robust and reliable radar performance.

Battery Monitoring: Precision and Reliability

Our battery sensors are engineered to monitor the current, voltage, and temperature of lead-acid batteries with exceptional precision. These sensors provide critical data for vehicle power management, helping to extend battery life and reduce CO2 emissions. The Automotive Research Group is deeply involved in the development of battery state estimation algorithms and supports the creation of new monitoring algorithms using simulated data.

Our simulation platform is designed to model critical traffic scenarios using realistic communication data flow, supporting the design and sizing of server-side network systems. We specialize in:

V2X Simulation: Expertise in SUMO traffic simulation and OMNet++ communication simulation to model complex traffic and communication scenarios.
